San Jose City tour:
Discover the beauty of this colorful City. Starting at 'La Sabana',
we will stop at the famous Esmeraldas y Disenos Jewelry store, here
you can learn about Pre-Columbian art and culture…
The City tour will then take you to the heart of downtown where you
will experience the beautiful historic sites of San Jose. A visit
to the magnificent National Theater, built in 1897, a masterpiece
in art & Architecture. Take a walk through 'La Plaza de la Cultura',
and enjoy a delicious costarican lunch in a restaurant set up in a
historic building in downtown.
Then we will continue the drive through the historical sites before
visiting a Butterflies garden, a colorful and refreshing piece of
the rain forest, in the heart of San Jose….
Finally, you will have time to wander around the hand craft shops
in the suburb of Moravia and experience the friendly costarrican way
of life 'Pura Vida'!!
Tropical Forest, Carara
Carara national park and the area around the tropical humid forest!!
Take a deep look of the wild beauties of a primary forest; Carara
is famous for the abundance of flora and species of fauna. The expert
guide will show you the secrets of the jungle and you will learn interesting
facts about the 3 life zones that can be distinguished at this area.
The direct contact with nature that you will be able to experience
here is amazing, besides, you will have a chance to learn about the
forest preservation…
2 hours walking through the green and beautiful tropical humid forest,
discovering the secrets of the jungle with an expert!
After the reserve, you will enjoy delicious tropical lunch by the
Tarcoles River. Here you can see Crocodiles, some of them more than
3 meters long….
Tropical forest, Maneul Antonio
The Central Pacific coast of Costa Rica has been blessed with a colorful
and diverse forest. This is the reason why Manuel Antonio National
park is the most beautiful and popular, despite its small size, it
manages to remain one of the premier nature spots in the country.
The mountains here literally meet the sea and the ecosystem is teeming
with land, air and sea species.
During the 2 hour walk in the well marked trails of the park, you
will likely be able to see the endangered squirrel monkey, (of which,
Manuel Antonio boasts the largest population in the world), various
colorful and majestic birds, white faced monkeys, sloth's, brilliantly
colored land crabs, and multi colored butterflies.
Temperature is in the 80 s, which makes it very comfortable and pleasant.
After the park, you will enjoy a tropical lunch, colorful and refreshing,
right in front of the pacific ocean!
Before heading to the ship, there will be time to wander around the
shops in the town of Quepos.….
Rain forest, Poas Volcano
Located at 2.704 meters above sea level and inside a nature reserve
of 9.884 acres, experience the magic of the peak of Poas Volcano.
With a crater of about 1,5 km wide, it is one of the worlds largest!
The short walk to reach the top is very easy and enjoyable as you
admire a very diverse flora and fauna. This Volcano is active, but
is safe for viewing.
After this spectacular, we will drive to a typical Costa Rican town
called Sarchi, on the way we will drive through, Grecia where you
will be able to see the famous metal church, a rare and beautiful
architecture.
At Sarchi, you can shop or simply admire various different handcrafted
articles and souvenirs. The hand painted oxcarts used in the Colonial
era for farming and transportation are exclusive to Costa Rica, they
became more colorful and ornamental over the years. Now, they are
a great reminder of the Costa Rica Culture in the old days….
For Lunch, we will stop for a 'typical' meal in a quaint restaurant
surrounded by tropical gardens.
To finish off the day, we will carry on to Naranjo, here some of
the worlds best coffee is produced. A visit to a coffee plantation
where you will learn how coffee gets from these plants to your cup
and experience the life of our farmers, simple but happy people…
